Convincing You to Read a Book Based on Its Visuals, Part 1
Providing you a personally-curated mood board to convince you to read 'If We Were Villains' by M.L. Rio.
I am creating this new series due to my deep love of scouring Pinterest for hours on end. Now, I have a new purpose to do so.
This is partially inspired by a couple projects I have done in the past. One, I completed as the Video Director for a Fashion & Lifestyle Magazine in college. I used images, transitions and classical music to create numerous multimedia pieces as book recommendations. Rather than telling you why I love a book, I prefer to display how it made me feel. (If you are at all interested in seeing my archived publications or adding a musical/playlist/video element to this series, please let me know).
The second project was actually my capstone project for my producing class in my final semester of college. The goal was to pitch a TV show with an in-depth business pitch and visual one. I, of course, decided to do a book adaptation of If We Were Villains and ate up every second I was working on that visual pitch. I do not intend to share my fifty-page project on my very new Substack page, however, I will utilize M.L. Rio’s novel as my first recommendation and share parts of that pitch that might provide you with the inclination to pick up the novel.
I am playing around with what the structure of this series should be. How much writing I should include, how many pictures, should I add classical music recommendations and how should I structure it all? So if you read this and are at all invested in this series, please like and comment and tell me what you like and dislike. This is, after all, one of my first attempts of reaching an audience with my love of reading and multimedia storytelling.
So without further ado, here is my personal mood board for If We Were Villains and some quotes to convince you even further to pick up this amazing book.
“We all have the capacity to be villains, but it is our choices that define us.”
“In this game of villains and victims, no one is truly innocent.”
